Quick question,I have an offer on the table for my 8gb Nexus 7. The guy wants to trade a 32gb Transformer Prime with the keyboard dock and a case. This sounds like a deal worth considering but I want to make sure the Transformer is worth it. I've owned a plethora of Android tablets and I really like the Nexus 7 so far. I prefer the 7" form factor because it's so comfortable to hold when reading books and web surfing. I like the added size of the 10" tablets for productivity and watching movies. Would you make the trade?

sounds like a crazy steal, be cautious. maybe something is wrong with the prime that is being sold. a used prime with dock and case is still worth $400-$600.

I love my prime, because it is working as a laptop replacement, i'm not sure a nexus7 could do it, but it all depends on preference and usage if one device will work for you vs the other.

Yea, this seems kinda crazy. Trade a $650 (at least when I bought my Prime and dock) for a $199 tablet. I dunno, that doesn't seem right. I'd stay away.

Make sure you can get it in your hands first so you can be sure there is nothing wrong with it, that guy would be taking a big loss making that deal.

Yea, I mean, that's a good point. If you are going to go for it definitely turn it on, make sure it works, use it for a while before you make any trade.

Personally, I'd still stay away from it. Why would they trade that when they could probably sell it, and, make more money, then just buy one new?

As Gary Adler would say "If its too good to be true, it probably is." Exception would be if you know the person well and the history on the reasoning behind the trade.

This.... I traded a razr maxx for a prime 64gb(no dock) a thunderbolt 4G and a small Archos 5 tablet. Only did it bc I'm good friends with the guy. He just bought the prime bingo Feb and barely used it. Just give it a good looking over and if everything checks out, go for it

Well, if the OP knows the person, than, it might be less of an issue. They could always ask to trade back if it didn't work correctly. Or, they could always get the person trading it to them (if they know them), to ensure that they'll contact Asus if there are any warranty issues. I don't believe the warranty will extend to a second owner, so, that'd kinda make me leery. :-\

We have both in my house. The Nexus 7 is definitely more polished. No stuttering or lag on it like the Prime. The 7-inch form factor is definitely more conducive to playing games in terms of controls because the Nexus 7 fits perfectly in your hands in landscape mode. The screen is also gorgeous.

The Prime obviously has the benefit of the bigger screen and rear camera. Plus the screen has Super IPS so outside it can be used comfortably while the Nexus 7 tends to be tough to see in sunlight. Plus I have the dock so it makes the Prima my laptop.

All that being said, I can't really say the Prime $500 is worth 2 1/2 Nexus 7 ($200), or even 3 Nexus 7s if you include the dock ($150).

If I were in the market for a tablet as a newbie, I would probably have taken the Nexus 7 over the Prime. Primarily because of the price. But also because the device is so much faster than the Prime plus it's a Nexus that will get rapid updates.

Hopefully, when Asus releases Jellybean to the Prime, that butter speed will show up as well.
