Just purchased a new S7 from Verizon. When transferring the files from my S5, all of my text threads came up as "new" messages, and I now have over 800 "new" messages. Any way I can get rid of the new notifications?

Are you able to long press the conversation threads and select "mark as read", or something along those lines? If not, then you can try backing up the old texts on the S5 (assuming you still have it) using an app (https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...om.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&token=IRBQ-O_N) then download the same app on the S7 and use it to restore the messages. I've used that in the past and have not had issues with the new messages or unread texts problem.
It will require you to transfer the backed up file to the new device. For that you can transfer manually via computer, or upload the Drive and download from Drive using the S7.
