I'm headed overseas in a month and TMobile said they can't guarantee my 2XL will work because it's not a "TMobile bought phone"

Just seeing if anyone had any experience using you're 2xl internationally on T-Mobile, and if there are any issues or they're just saying that to get you to buy something from them

I have used TMobile overseas not with the pixel 2xl though. It's actually easy you will roam and don't have to do anything with your phone. Might want to check which country you going to make sure TMobile has guarantee coverage there. Be aware any call received or outbound off of WiFi is a 25 cent per minute call.

I have used TMobile's awesome included international roaming with the Nexus 5, Nexus 5x, and OG Pixel. None bought through TMobile. You'll be fine.

Pixel 2 works great in Europe and Asia. It has ALL the LTE bands. You will see it connected to LTE. However, T-Mobile will slow down. It is slow but enough to search for places, get directions, emails and such. Just need to be a little patient when open a website with lots of graphics. The best of all is able to text and WiFi calling... We love it.

Were they right? did the phone work abroad too?

Welcome to Android Central! FYI, you're replying to a 4 year old thread, so it's unlikely the above people will respond. But a number of people did already respond that their phones that weren't from T-Mobile worked fine in Europe -- did you see that?

You can contact T-Mobile and tell them you will be traveling internationally for a bit and you would like a temporary unlock on your phone. They should do it, then you can use another carrier that better fits the area you're going to.
