I am taking a trip to Toronto in a few days, I live in the US and I am a Verizon customer. I have Unlimited data and text in my plan, if I plan to use my Droid X a lot will i incur any other usage charges? Like CDMA roam? is there a buffer zone to where the US and Canada share data usage?

Any international travelers out there?

Verizon has a great plan where you can use unlimited International data and make calls without a surcharge. I think the plan is something like $80 a month, but you can turn it on before you go and off after you get back (figure ~$20 a week). Great peace of mind for those travels.

Another option is to turn of roaming on your phone. If you think you'll have access to wifi that may be sufficient for you.

Sadly, there is no buffer. If the tower belongs to VZW it's free, if it's another carrier it's not. There are issues when you're at the border where you're in the US but your phone is talking to a tower in Mexico/Canada (generally not both at the same time :)).

hey thanks for an honest reply, i think the 20 bucks is worth it just so there is no hassle or worries of incurring any excessive fees!!!

Thanks!!!
