Trick that allows uninstall of unwanted stock app...

Hears a little trick that I ran across that will allow you to remove unwanted apps from your unit (NOT ROM)..., I noticed that if you back up apk files using a backup app or even with EStrong File Explorer, you can install apk over the installed app that is stock installed and then you will see the uninstall option in the application installed list. Click uninstall and away go those unwanted apps.

I have done this with a number of apps on my device so i can verify that this works without issues, but does not work on some stock apps unless you use a third party apk file. But be careful because you can backup system apk files and not all of them are safe to remove like this. But the good part is if you need to roll everything back for a update, you can simply do a hard reset and your back to factory image.

Can you confirm that a hard reset reinstalls the applications? I really don't think that it does. Even a factory reset won't reinstall applications, it just deletes all user data. I would think that if you used this method, you'd still have to use the .sbf to roll back for the OTA update.

Correct me if you've tried it and I'm wrong.

I have hard reset after doing this and the apps that I removed returned, this method seems to simply remove the application from system but does not touch the rom, keep in mind I am doing this unrooted, a rooted device may remove more because application will have access to more of the systems resources. I havent tried it rooted because I have decided to hold out on rooting again until 2.2 update hits.
