I pre-ordered the Aegis Pro with the free wireless charging pad promo. Originally it was supposed to ship yesterday (4/20), but I emailed Customer Support when I didn't receive notice it had been shipped.

Unfortunately, it has been delayed to next week. After I emailed Customer Support, they updated the website to show a 4/29 shipment date.

Since there seems to be a lack of quality screen protectors that will properly stick to the edge, I also asked about the built-in screen protector that is a key feature on the Aegis line. She confirmed because of the curvature of the screen, the edge model will not have one. However, the rep assured me other brands of screen protectors will be compatible with the trident case (including hard protectors). I guess I'll keep my Bodyguardz HD protector on.

Welcome to Android Central!

I have been having a hard time using a case with a screen protector on my S7E. I can get it on there nice and flush but when the case goes on it pulls the protector off the edge screen.

How long are you waiting to put the case back on? I applied the Spigen crystal curve and went caseless for a day before putting my Otterbox Symmetry back on and have no lifting. I've even removed the case a few times and everything has still held.

That is probably my problem, I tried to put the case back on right after I was done. I probably should have waited like you did for it to lay down and get nice and stuck on there.

I did mine before I went to bed, charged overnight, and left it in my pocket all the next day. Then put the case back on in the evening.

So, I finally received my Aegis Pro case from Trident this past Thursday. After a full weekend, I am unfortunately going to be returning it. Here are my impressions for those who were considering this case.

PROS
> 3mm depth to the screen lip and back cover plate. This is the largest clearance on a case I've seen so far.
>Plenty of corner bumper protection.
> Easy installation. The phone and top cover slides up and into the back cover plate.
> Responsive button covers.

CONS
> The easy installation seems to have seriously compromised the integrity of the case. The phone has dropped twice and both times, the whole case popped open and my phone fell out. While the phone wasn't damaged, this is a serious design flaw. What good is a case that can't keep the phone inside contained?

The two pieces do not fit together tightly and I'm sure the gaps will allow water and dirt in through the gaps. Even the button protectors are not fully attached to the case.

> As I previously confirmed, the Aegis series doesn't have a built-in screen protector. While I was able to install the case over my existing Bodyguardz HD protector, it is not at all seamless and it creates even more gaps for water and dirt to get in.

> While there is a studded texture on the back, this thing skids on flat surfaces as if it were on ice. The first time it fell, I had my phone in my car mount; when I first accelerated, it just fell forward as if there was no grip or friction keep it in. I miss the rubber non-skid grips of the Cyclops series.

> The power port plugs "hinge" is at the top of the case instead of the bottom. This means it closes downward and not upward. I find its very difficult to plug a power cord in because of this.

> I'm not sure this is case-related, but the free wireless charging pad that came with the pre-order doesn't engage wireless charging reliably. It takes several tries.

All-in-all, very disappointed in Trident's offering. I have several devices in Cyclops or Kraken cases and have been 100% satisfied. The Aegis Pro just doesn't seem to live up to those standards.

I don't understand their release strategy, either; the S6 edge was released in both Cyclops and Kraken and the S7 got a Kraken case. The S7 edge gets just the Aegis and Krios clear case.

Now that I waited so long for the Trident, the question is, what tough, Mil-spec case do I go with instead?

Right profile. See how the rubber of doesn't go all the way around the button?

Close up of the lip bezel. It's hard to see, but there's a gap where the screen protector doesn't meet the case.

Back texture, doesn't provide much geip or friction.

Close up of the edge. The side bezel is slightly angler, making a "v" with the curved of the edge. Doesn't seem to impact functionality.
