Ive been having some issues deleting texts.. It seems to only be when i try and delete large threads (500+) I get a force close and then the messages app wont fully reload, so i have to restart the phone.
Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance!

I've deleted a thread of 75+ without any problems but thats that largest for me.

Does the phone freeze up or is it just a problem with the messaging app not reloading?

phone doesnt freeze, just the messaging app. some times it wont reload the app, so i have to restart the phone.

bump....
Still having a problem deleting large threads... and they are just getting bigger...

Are you using the native app, or one from the market? I haven't had any trouble deleting any threads, regardless of size, using Handcent.

native app... ill look in to hancent. free?

Yeah Kyle, the native app is buggy right now. Get Handcent which is free, and way better, IMO. Its highly customizable and it will allow your phone to actually go to sleep when your not using it, unlike the native app which has a bug. Just turn off notifications in the native app, and Handcent will do all the rest. You also get the option when texting someone for the first time to select is as default etc. Its a great app.

ok... just tried to delete a thread on handcent... 980 messages.... had to force close after a few minutes....
BUT! i do like handcent much more than the native app...
what all do i need to do to set it as the default? i disabled auto retrieve and notifications in the native app..

Now i cant seem to open handcent after the force close... i try to open, get a black screen, and then a force close shortly after.

I would delete handcent, do a battery pull, then reinstall it. I've never heard of the issue in deleting SMS threads. If you disable notifications on the native app it will all go through to handcent. Just open handcent and you can send messages to anyone from there. If you are texting a person for the first time, a box will pop up with a check in it saying use Handcent or the native app as default for this contact.
