Trouble focusing camera

I'm having issues with getting the camera to focus on things about a foot away or less. I have selective focus tuned off and can't figure out why it won't take close pictures .

Is this user error? Or is anyone else experiencing this difficulty?

I'm having same problem with my banking app and camera.

Try turning off the stabilization.

I downloaded Google camera and I'm able to tap the screen for a good focus. Doing this on the stock Samsung app, whether S5 or Note 3, cleared it but blurred immediately. Sure Google Camera isn't as feature filled but for me it just works.
