Trouble Rooting Optimus V w/ SuperOneClick

I recently got an Optimus V. After looking at many threads about how to do so, the one posted on this forum seemed best. I have tried doing the first step of using Superoneclick's ShellRoot function, but to no avail. Many errors have occurred. Most of the time, it will just say that it failed. The only times it doesnt automatically go to a failed operation is if i turn off the phone, start the shell root, wait for it to say "waiting on device" and then turn on the phone. Then it usually only goes as far as step 5, and at max step 7 before just stopping. Can anyone help?

Okay, I'm confused as to how I get the APK installed... it says to get it on the phone "some hoe", but not on the SD card, and install it on the phone...??
