I've been having issues with my HTC EVO 4G LTE not properly syncing my contacts with Google. Email and calendar have both worked perfectly but, for instance, contacts I added to my Google account would never sync over to my phone and a contact I added to my phone recently DID sync with my Google account, but then it disappeared off my phone! After many frustrating hours reading forum posts, as well as a very lengthy call with Sprint tech support that did not solve the problem, through trial and error, I finally resolved the issue this afternoon and would like to share the resolution here, in case anyone else is experiencing these same issues. Here is how I fixed it:
Settings>Apps>All>Contacts Storage>Clear data (Ok the warning message so that you do clear off all the data)
Now use the back ("<") button in the lower left corner of the phone to go back to your apps list and select
Google Contacts Sync>Clear Data (same as before - OK the warning message so that you clear the data)
(When you complete the two steps above, you will start receiving warning messages along the lines of: "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped." Don't worry about it. These will go away when you finish the process below.)
Now you need to remove all the accounts you've set up on your phone:
Settings>Accounts & sync>(select the account)>Remove
Repeat this until you've removed every account from the phone
Now restart your phone and add back each of the accounts you deleted. At this point, your "Auto-sync" [under Settings>Accounts & sync] will probably be off. Turn it back on and press "Sync all." It will take a little while, so be patient, but it will repopulate all your contacts.
After following all the steps above, my contacts sync is now (finally!) working perfectly. I have tested it in both directions and the changes I make on my phone are showing up instantaneously on the web and vice versa.
I hope following the steps above will save other from similar frustration. Cheers!
