If you can't get Kies Mini to upgrade your Infuse, then GO HERE and download the official release and flash it thru Odin.

One of the XDA members pulled it from Kies Mini and posted it for you.

If you have a Mac, then I guess that you could unzip it and flash it thru heimdall.

Do you have to be rooted to do it this way??? I've been unable to upgrade. At least the last couple of days when i plugged my phone in, kies mini would recognize it (though like everyone else it said unregistered device and the upgrade button was greyed out). today it's not recognized by kies mini and regular kies never recognized it at all :( It says failed to install drivers. crap.

My phone is not rooted.

No, place phone in download mode, run odin, make sure infuse shows up as a com port. Load the upgrade, which will end in md5, into the PDA slot, click start.

Thanks for the help, Cranky. Unfortunately for me, the computer no longer recognizes my phone. Keeps saying, Failed to download drivers. Or will randomly say USB connection malfunctioned. I'm guessing this is why when i tried to go into download mode with odin I never saw the infuse com thing show up. I didn't see the infuse com thing show up afew days ago when i tried the gtg unbrick method. Pretty odd, it was connecting to kies mini yesterady and the day before. And all of a sudden it's a no go. I uninstalled kies and kies mini and reinstalled kies hoping this would help out, but no dice. :\

Cranky, when i do what you say and click start, message pops up saying "check image files"...

I997UCKL2-Homebinary.tar.md5 is the file I downloaded and Odin Multi Downloader v4.03.exe is the other file

So is this going be just like an official update? I have never flashed before so everything is kinda difficult...

I have odin 1.7(from GTG unbrick). Put the phone in download mode, and put the downloaded file in the 'PDA' slot and press start? Is the COM## thing is same as GTG unbrick? I'm not sure what is infuse com port

Worked awesome. I did the GTG Ultimate Unbrick to get back to stock, then still couldn't update via Kies. Ran the Odin with this md5 and I am finally on Gingerbread. Thanks.

Yes, it doen't matter which com port shows up. The computer will use any available.

Go to your control panel and uninstall all samsung software. reboot, then install samsung drivers again.

Redownload and use an earlier version of Odin that doesn't have the OPS option. Odin 1.7 or 1.8 will work.

This work for me too, thanks. I'm now on 2.3.6, UCKL2.

Since I know how to go back to stock (thanks to ATT) I will try kies mini to do update whenever it becomes avaiable... I personally don't think that day will come though.

I'm having problems with this. After the Odin process, my phone reboots and this error appears (in this exact way)

E:failed to mount /dbdata (file exists)
E:copy_ddbata media: Can't mount /dbdata
your storage not prepared yet, please use UI men
u for format and reboot actions

Meida files copy failed.

For PIT: infuse.pit
For PDA: I997UCKL2-Homebinary.tar.md5
For PHONE: PHONE_UCKD5.tar.md5
