Hey everyone.

NY wife purchased a bunch of TV shows and movies on the Google play store for her note 3. When at home she wants to watch then on out Samsung smart TV (UN55ES8000F). problem is when she selects screen mirror and the phone searches for nearby devices it never sees the TV. She can forward YouTube and Netflix from her phone to the TV with out issue but screen mirror can't seem to find my TV.

My Google search came up empty. Anyone know what my problem is? I'm hoping its something simple that I am just being oblivious to.

Thanks everyone

Sounds like a Google Chromecast would fix your problem for $35 and toy could use it on any TV with hdmi.

Okay I signed up just so I could help you out with this bud so I hope it works for ya.

On your TV go into Menu > Network > Allshare Settings > Screen Mirroring. If it's the same as my smart tv (60F7100) you should have a blue screen come up saying ready to sync. Turn on Screen Mirroring on your wife's phone and it should give you a list of devices in which the tv should be selectable. Once you choose it you'll see a message on your tv saying connecting and you should have screen mirroring.
I hope you have better luck with it than I do though, I find it to be too laggy with my Note 3 LTE and F series 7 TV which kinda is a bummer, it seems to be an issue with the wifi network because it uses Wifi Direct technology my normal wifi continually tries to reconnect and it causes dropouts with the screen mirroring. I can solve the issue by disabling auto-connect to wi-fi networks but then it's still laggy. not sure if it's the phone sending the signal slow or the tv not reading it fast enough. I'm going to keep fiddling with it and see if I can reach a satisfactory result. Oh and by the way you can get Youtube and NetFlix to work because they aren't using screen mirror they are using DLNA which is built into the video player in the phone which I can do with my series 6 TV from 4 years ago. Screen Mirroring is actual proper "whatever your phone shows your tv shows" tech.

Best of luck with it all.

James.

Thank you for taking the time to register to help me out!

Unfortunately my all share menu on my TV does not have a screen mirror sub menu. If that is where it is supposed to be it sounds like my new TV isn't compatible for some reason.

Looks like chromecast is my only option. Thanks for the help though everyone

Damn, what a shame, I see that you have the ES series 8 which may not support it out of the box like the F series 7 and 8 do. before you get chromecast there is an android specific device you may want to consider called the AllShare Cast Dongle which is a small black box that plugs into a HDMI port on your TV. Not sure about which one is better but I've watched a youtube vid of a guy playing games on the samsung device with no lag, not really an issue if your main intention is to watch movies though.
EDIT:Oh and if wireless isn't absolutely necessary here's a cheap way out MHL to HDMI Adapter
EDIT 2: Just noticed that this is the newer version of that connector which is what I would go with as it's compatible with S4's

I have the 7000 series Samsung Smart TV so I think I will have to get the AllShare Cast Dongle also for Mirroring. What I do not understand is that I have my phone setup on ALLSHARE and I can view my videos, photos and music from my Note 3 on my Samsung Smart TV in the AllShare app but I can no longer stream Crackle (Movie App) over the WIFI; however I am able to do this with my Motorola Droid MAXX??? what gives? When I bring up a Crackle move I touch the SHARE icon on my MAXX and it streams it to my TV, but when I try it on my Note 3 I get "No TV can be found". The TV IS in the device list. Scratching my head on this one?

I'm surprised you can do it on the maxx. I can't mirror movies from any phone to my Samsung smart tv.

Update! Problem Solved, download iMediaShare on Play Store and it works flawlessly. I forgot I used this app on my Droid Maxx.

My media is on the xfinity tv go app. There is no share symbol on the screen when movie plays. How can you mirror the contents of a secure app? What series of steps do you follow? I can understand how your cure would work with videos taken on my phone or downloaded videos but live steaming secure movies too?

Hey there! Did you ever correct your problem?? I'm having the same issues trying to mirror my Samsung S3 onto my Samsung TV.. PLEASE HELP!!! I've tried everything..

Well, I just signed up so that I can get some help from you, James (but anyone feel free to advise).

I have a Galaxy Note 3 and the UN60F7100 Smart TV. I have tried the steps that you list below (Allshare and screen mirroring). It seems like it gets connected but then I get a message on my TV that screen mirroring has ended. My TV is in the basement and my wireless router is on my 2nd story but I've not noticed any network issues or lag with other apps. [My son plays Xbox One games all the time]. I've noticed funky things with WiFi connections so I don't know if I need to disable auto-connect as well.

I've tried many other Samsung and non-Samsung apps and am able to view my Note 3 videos on the TV but still no luck with screen mirroring. My son wants to watch the back episodes of the Walking Dead that we can view on the phone but it's streaming rather than existing as a video on my Note 3. I've had no luck with Samsung support (does anyone ever answer the Remote Support phone line?).

I notice that the SmartView application is not capable with the Note 3. Will this app allow screen mirroring to work? I was told that SmartView would allow me to mirror my Smart TV ONTO my Note 3, which would also be great. Do you know anything about it? Thanks.

Dan

Help Please.

I have Samsung Note 10.1, Android 4.3.
Using the screen mirror option works fine but it disables the internet connection in that tablet !!! I cannot have both internet access and screen mirror at the same time, any ideas?
thanks

Got it!!!
On TV hit menu, network, Wi-Fi Direct
On phone go to settings, Wi-Fi, drop down box (top right 3 dots), Wi-Fi Direct - it will scan, tap here to connect when your tv pops up
Hit OK to accept on tv

CONNECTED...DONE!!!

ok it disconnected from Wi Fi Direct upon hitting OK. All Share seems to be separate from Wi-Fi Direct...but I cant seem to add my device to All Share

To everyone having issues using the screen mirroring. Try downloading the patch from the play store. It will allow for screen mirroring to work again. After the last update the screen mirroring was broken. The patch fixed this issue when I had it with the all share cast device.

What is the patch called in playstore? Never mind I found it and opened it but app grayed out patch and said I did not need it.

i did that. now what? it says connected on phone and tv but i still see tv menu. my phone screen isn't mirrored on tv. is there another step? if i hit return on tv menu the tv disconnects. at no point did mirroring take place

All Share mirroring works fine but I want to mirror like when I connect through wired hdmi so whatever is on my phone screen...even its home page...appears on samsung tv. I have no idea what wifi direct is supposed to do?

Anyone that does not have this option on the television, Roku works very well for it. I already had the Roku 3 on my older television and it works great. I can't believe how many channels Roku offers compared to many other streaming devices. I have the Chromecast I got before the Roku but it doesn't really offer much. I purchased the $50 portable one just for traveling but the full size Roko 3 seems to be a bit faster on menu changing. Anyway, it is nice to be able to do screen mirroring through the Roku I already owned, even when my samsung television was an older model. I just noticed you can do the youtube search on my Note 3 after pairing it with the youtube channel on the Roku as well. The note 3 is much easier to type out the search and just hit play rather than slowly hunting the letters with a remote control.

Chromecast does screen mirroring with the Note 3 really well. In fact it works even better than the built-in Samsung Screen mirroring with my Samsung smart TV. It also has well over 600 apps. Nothing against the Roku, but the Chromecast is better in this respect.

All I care about is streaming hd quality picture and sound from xfjnity tv go on note 3 to samsung smart tv. Back when I bough them salesmen claimed "absolutely no problem" now customer services says "good luck with that"
