Hello all. Just bought my first android device, a Samsung galaxy s3 from AT&T . All was fine until I installed a new external SDXC card, Patriot PSF64GMCSXC10UK kit: 64 Gb class 10 UHS-1. I liked the kit because it came with a micro sd to USB adapter as well.
I've heard these specs are compatible with the S3. The problem I'm having is that all photos and videos I take with the phone are slowly becoming corrupt within hours. After taking a photo or video, all viewing and playback is fine, no error messages. After an hour, videos develop playback errors. After 2 hrs, photos have bold stripes across them. The next day, everything is gone and thumbnails are black.
I know these sdxc cards are formatted initially, and by the phone as exFAT. Have reformatted on the phone and on a windows 7 machine several times with the exact same results.
Have read several threads about reformatting 64 gb cards to FAT32 but with a brand new phone, and brand new memory card, I would like to use the advantages of exFAT. FYI
hotos and videos were fine at first with my old, small FAT32 SDHC card.
I am still within the 30 day return window of the memory card, any thoughts of what to do or if it might just be a bad card would be greatly appreciated.
