Hi! I am keeping my vzw udp but I would live a new phone and I thought it would be fun to try out TMobile to see how data reception compares.

I would like to be able to cancel if my reception sucks but will have to buy a phone to try it.

Is there a certain plan I should try?

Can I get my $ back on phone if reception sucks?

How long do I have before returning it?

When using this tmobile phone is it possible to forward calls to my vzw number to my new tmobile phone? Does it cost a lot of $ to do that?

Thanks!

I would suggest unlimited if you're used to unlimited -- and there is a 14 day return policy. You will have to pay a restocking fee but that is it.

Yes you can forward for free -- it just costs minutes (which are unlimited).

Actually, doesn't LCG give you 30 days to return the device for a 100% refund (device cost+service?) Or does it require a port-in?

There are drawbacks though. You have to front the money for this (i.e. it isn't as user-friendly as Test Drive used to be,) and you have to sign up for JoD. I guess if you like TMO but really don't want JoD, you could cancel within 30 days and then maybe sign up without JoD?

Re: call forwarding: I would also look at Verizon's billing for this, to check if they charge anything (besides deducting minutes) for forwarding.

I took my vzw LGG3 to Tmo, bought a prepaid sim to test coverage. $50 for a month, including 1GB of high speed data. Forwarded calls for free from vzw. Although the G3 didn't match up exactly to all the Tmo bands, it was enough to confirm it worked where I needed it. Now post paid on Tmo with a V10 , at a third of the cost with enough data to not worry.

What is JoD?

Is there a plan that allows you to count streaming video as data so you get netflix in 1080p?

Supposedly wifi is not throttled. Can anybody verify getting netflix at 1080p on wifi?

Yeah if you snag the unlimited data plan. I have it and turned off the binge on thing so I can have full 1080p HD.

Oh excellent! I misunderstood. Like in my Note 3 VZW has it choked to 720p no matter what I do, even on wifi. Netflix says it is VZW that insisted on it. Note 4 and 5 do get 1080p

You can also opt out of Binge On and receive normal video on a standard metered plan. There's a place to do it on the my.tmobile site after you login to your account.

If you just want to try T-Mobile out thru have a T-Mobile test drive for 7 days if you want try them out longer I would buy a resent phone used and if you don't like T-Mobile you can sell it. If you bring your own phone you can cancel the service anytime with no penaltys. The reason you need to buy a newer phone used is because if you buy it from T-Mobile it will be more expensive and it has to be newer because T-Mobile has been expanding there network and using new frequencys and older phones aren't compatible with them.
