Charge voltage

I get 3.85v near the battery connector (see pic), but the voltage does not budge when connected to charger. I expected to see 4.4v. Why not?

Charger and cable are charging other phones just fine and apparently this one as well.

A steady ~3.85 V generally means:
  • Battery is roughly 40–60% charged
  • The battery itself is healthy enough to hold voltage
  • The PMIC is not pushing it into the CV phase yet
You will only see ~4.3–4.4 V when:
  • The battery is near full
  • The charger has transitioned into the constant-voltage phase
  • The phone temperature and charge limits allow it
Even then, it often never reaches full max voltage due to battery-health preservation logic.
