Try to update softwar and get error message

I have been trying to update the software and i get this error message.
Failed to update software. network or server error occurred. try later or try using PC Kies.
how did you guys update?

I just went To Settings and selected abou+ device. From there I chose update device and it all worked seemless From there.

I did that but the message "connecting to server" just sits and "spins". Unsure as to what I should do now.:-\
