Hi

I'm in the UK and trying to get a friend's AOL email account onto her Samsung Z Flip.

Tried to add account via Google Mail, didn't work, couldn't validate as I recall. I seem to recall seeing sometime there are oddities in the way AOL email has to be setup.

Any suggestions please?

Moving from AOL - however desirable - is not an option.

Which email app are you trying to setup? The default Samsung email app? Or is it AOL's email app from the Play Store? Or a different third-party email app?
AOL email is just another email service, it shouldn't require any kind of 'oddity' to set up. Most email apps will auto-configure themselves once you enter the email user name and password when it involves the big name established email services, but if necessary they all provide their respective configuration settings on their web sites if you need to set things up manually:

I'd suggest using the AOL app as that's developed and maintained by AOL, and will be the easiest to do the initial set up, along with being the most compatible with AOL's features and such.

To update - and close - this thread.

When I had another session earlier this week it was evident that she wasn't sure of the password. As her laptop was successfully using AOL mail we used that to change the password to a known one; then downloaded AOL mail for Android, set it up and it all worked first time.

I checked the following day and it continues to work fine.

Thank you for your comments.
