I believe that they are on the same wifi network but the TV is AWOL. I think that I had done it with the former Pixel3

While I can pair with BT devices, I don't see a similar option for wifi pairing or discovery or whatever.

Any suggestions.

If it's anything like my Samsung tv, it likes to switch itself to 2.4 GHz channel. While everything else prefers 5 GHz. I solved it by going into the TV's settings and resetting the connections and omitting the 2.4 GHz band entirely.

Don't know if it makes a difference but, depending on how old the tv is it may use Mira cast.

If I recall, Miracast only casts the screen. You want sound you need Chromecast. And recent Pixels no longer have Miracast.

Miracast does audio, I've been using it for 10 years, it's the technology used by most streaming devices. If Miracast had no audio Roku and Amazon Firesticks would also have no audio.

My Pixel 4a 5G can "see" my Samsung TV for the purposes of casting YouTube TV. I have a Samsung UN43TU8000FXZA, a 2020 43" TV. I believe that part of casting, without Miracast support (which was dropped from the Pixels several years ago as noted before), is having an app on the cast target to support the stream. I can't cast my display as a whole, I have to cast from within an app.
