Trying to clear cache

Can't get past the boot to clear cache.
I hold down volume up/down & power. It starts to boot into recovery then I get "Software install failed!" Any help appreciate.
Note: Pad works sluggish in normal mode the reason I want to clear cache.

Try just Volume Down+Power.

Thank you for the suggestion. Volume down & power button boot into normal mode on my M3
