Trying to copy videos taken on camera to my SD Card, having trouble-can't see on Inc.

I took some video using an external piece of equipment - basically a digital camera with built in video capability.

I mounted my Inc. as a drive to my PC and then proceeded to drag and drop the videos into the 'pictures' folder. I could see the videos saved on my SD Card, but couldn't bring them up and play them on the Inc.

So, I created a Video folder for the Inc. using Windows Explorer and that didn't work either... meaning I couldn't see the Video folder on the Inc.

I also tried dragging the videos into the "media" folder on my SD card with no luck.

The movies that I am trying to get copied onto my Inc. are "MVI"

Can anyone give any pointers on how to take movies obtained on a small camera and transfer them to my SD card on the Inc., and then were to look for them to open and watch them on the Inc. ? Do I need to create a special folder for the video ?

Do I need to download some kind of file manager in order to be able to "see" the videos ?

Jason.

According to HTC's site:
Playback: .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .wmv

I know .mov is supported too so MVI may not be supported hence the reason you can't see it. On my phone I just have a media folder and inside it made a video folder. Put all my stuff there.

Yes, how can I convert at MVI to one of the formats supported by the Incredible ? Just resave it in a different format ?

I'm pretty sure AVI's are supported as well?? MVI I've never even heard of, but a lot of people use either Super video encoder (free). I use it and it works perfectly with a lot of different formats and sizes etc.

SUPER &copy

It says ANY multimedia file can be converted. I've changed a lot of mov file to avi and flash to avi etc. Give it a whirl.

Thanks, Qazme : I made a mistake on my earlier post the video format that I am trying to transfer and play on my Inc. The files look like this : MVI_4568.AVI >So, it looks like I am working with AVI files, but I haven't figured out how to get them to be read by the Inc., so maybe they aren't supported as you mentioned, based on the data from the HTC site.

Where would I do the conversion with the program you mentioned..???. I imagine I would convert the AVI files to a readable format for the Incredible directly on my PC, then transfer them over, is that correct ?

Also, where do I transfer them to ?? The "media" folder ? I don't see a folder on my Inc on either internal memory of the SD card that says where to put "video," etc.

Yes I've used this app for a few years. It was actually suggested for video on the blackberry storm. There was full writeup on how to use it over at Crackberry.

The program is virus and adware/malware free. But like anything on the internet make sure you scan it before installation if you don't trust it.

Just drag and drop the file you want to change into Super's window. Select your option, including what type of file to transform it into and hit go.

This will give you the basics:
