So I know the EVO 3D will have a much faster processor, better screen, 3D amongst other things. However, what will all these features that the 3D possess will allow me to do that the original EVO can't do? I don't game on the phone so what will the faster processor offer me? Also, I heard a while ago that the original EVO wouldn't be able to do Netflix. Now Netflix released an app for the original EVO. So, what exactly will I benefit from by getting the 3D? What things will I do on the 3D that I won't be able to do with the original EVO? Thanks everyone for your answers.

Well, obviously you'd be able to watch 3D content (and take 3D pictures/video), but I'm assuming you figured that one already.
It'll be better at multitasking, since it has twice the RAM, and more local storage for more apps. Also, the faster processor will simply speed everything up, from games (although you said you don't game) to other apps to web browsing (things like say...flash intensive sites). The other big thing is that it'll be more "future proofed" as far as new upgrades to Android. It will 1000000% get Ice Cream Sandwich, and while it seems like the Evo could, you never know. My guess is that whatever the next major OS update is after, the Evo will be left out in the cold (officially anyway), where the 3D has a much better chance of still being relevant.

I kinda was in the same ship as the OP, but when I heard the upcoming price cut for the 4G was only $50, that makes it a no-brainer for me to get the more powerful device even though it is kind of overkill right now
I think you just have to ask yourself one question. Why would you spent almost the same amount of money on last years technology?
Since it seems the OP is going to buy on contract, I would also offer if they believe they will still be happy with the EVO4G in 22 mos. I think the phone itself will be fine in 2 yrs, if a bit slow (unlike my poor Pre), so you gotta ask if YOU will be happy with it, knowing you spent almost as much money. FWIW

You can disable the 3D within settings and then you just have a 1.2 GHz EVO minus the kickstand but with Android 2.3 and Sense 3.0.

There Is really nothing to disable there, the 3D switch only turn on 3d for the camera, the ui is not in 3d, only media taken with the phone in 3d mode, certain games, and stuff you stream from YouTube and the Blockbuster app are.
I had heard an HTC rep in one of the "Hands-On" videos that the 3D (meaning the 3D in Sense and other areas) was disable-able in the settings.

After playing with the phone, I can say there is no true 3D in the Sense interface. There's a little faux 3D layering when you flip the panes. Like the weather and clock graphics and numbers lifting off the black background. It isn't reliant on the 3D screen.
It's the feeling of getting a new toy. Everyone loves something new •> RIGHT, PLUS awesomeness. :-D
No sir. The hardware 3d of the screen is only active when shooting videos and photos while the phones 3d button is turned on. And, as mentioned above, when playing 3d content from either YouTube 3d or the Blockbuster app, or when playing an actual 3d game. The whole layered "software 3d" of Sense which shows the cube like animations when going from screen to screen can not be disabled. Those animations are the same in any other Sense 3.0 device, like the Flyer and the Sensation, and both of those devices do not have a hardware 3d screen.

Get the Evo 3D if you want the current technology being offered on Sprint and have an HTC Device. If you are looking for a great deal on a good phone, then get the Evo 4G because I'm sure Sprint and/or third party vendors will be pushing the device out the door to make way.
I would go with the EVO 3D because overall it has the better specs and the EVO is almost a year old it may not seem old but in tech years its old lol
I don't really want the Nexus 4G bc I'm not a big fan of Vanilla. So it's either going to be EVO or EVO 3D.
