Trying to install

Tho ota dl09 kernel is sneaky in that it'll wipe cwm upon a reboot. To fix this you need to reflash cwm via odin. Once that's done you need to boot DIRECTLY into recovery and apply the update.zip. do not allow your phone to do a normal bootup. Once your in green recovery, flash your kernel. That will fix your problem.

I did follow this. got to the green menu, went to sd card and installed the stupidfast. Installed fine, then I went to reboot sys as that was the only option to get me back to the phone. Did I undo the flash? Kernel information has not changed under phone info.

ahhh mission success, sorry I have been in classes all day since i helped ya earlier. glad to see you finally got it done, now you can sleep tonight! cheers!

Yes, you guys are great. Read through the directions again, clear as day "boot to recovery" but it just went out of my head and went to auto-pilot to restart phone. I went and flashed the new kernel several times to get comfortable with the process (not that I wasn't already from the failed attempts!)

Now to try other non-voodoo kernels and maybe a theme or two.

Good plan my friend, you can try different boot-up animations and stuff as well if you download ROM Manager. There is a ton of stuff that Sonofskywalker3 has uploaded to customize your own experience.

Just replaced my startup animation and sounds as well as my shutdown animation and sounds. No more VZ pics or music.
