Ok I downloaded the Sideload Wonder and made sure Debugging is set and also mass Storage. I connected my phone up got to where I have the App I want to load and press the go button.
Then I get loader_bat is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
C:\Documents and settings\owner\my Documents\Android\GPS.

It has been unzipped with wnzip and also tried WinRAR it does have the .apx extension.:(

Put the *.apk in the same folder as all the SWM files

Try reading through my post at http://forum.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?p=383071 I got it to work after making sure the *.apk file was in the same folder as all of the other SWM files.

Thanks that is the best instructions I have read. I found the same answer but not has detailed a couple of weeks ago. Wish I had your instructions then.
Thanks for taking the time to write this up.

shouldn't SDK still be installed (Android SDK | Android Developers) and user opens cmd prompt to run something like "c:\android-sdk\tools adb install xyz.apk"?

also do you have/need the samsung drivers installed?

i couldn't get SWM to work in linux so i gave up and rooted my captivate. like i did, you could always try the one-click root method, sideload your apps, then one-click unroot if you don't want to retain root access.
