turn off 3g on Xoom!

I signed up to verizon 3g. Seems that it comes on some times even when im on wifi. I'm also worried that even though I shut down the screen 3g may still be running. Anyway to turn verizon 3g on and off manually?

yea go to settings and then wireless & networks and turn off mobile networks

I just keep it in airplane mode and turn on wifi
