Turn off screen via touchscreen?

Is there any way to turn the scren on and off without using the physical button on the back of the device?

Many times i have the device laying down in the table and the rear of the device is not accesible.

Yes there's several widgets that allow you to do that. Extended controls comes to mind, but there's many others as well.
