Turn off smart menus?

On Messenger, Pandora, email, I get these smart menus instead of the app opening, and in messenger when I hit send, a smart menu pops up with options to send the message, like today at 5, in two hours, schedule a day and time.

Um, NO, I want to send it now.

I want to open the app not choose my station from a smart menu.

Can I turn these off? It's maddening.

New pixel 4a with latest Android OS

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, can't help with the question (may have something to do with Google assistant, it gets its claws into everything if you have it on), but on deleting posts, I usually just edit and put "delete" in the text. If the mods are in a cleaning house mood, they freshen things up and delete for us.

Welcome to Android Central! I removed your unintentional duplicate post.

Where exactly are you seeing these menus? Do you mean if you long-press the app shortcut icon on the homescreen?

This sounds like you are in Google messages as this allows you to schedule a message. But I am confused where you are pressing these apps

On the home screen I can press on the icon and a smart menu pops up, the app does not open. Doesn't happen all the time.

In messenger, there is a paper airplane icon for sending the message. Quite often a menu will pop up when I hit send. It happens quickly when I touch the icon, not something I have to press and hold for, and when I do press and hold that menu does not come up, rather app info comes up.

There are various SMS apps, which is why Kizzy Catwoman was asking -- Google Messages is the default SMS app in Pixels, but there are other ones the user can install as well, like Textra or Facebook Messenger.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can disable those menus. If you're accidentally bringing them up, it's probably because you're pressing the screen a little too long. You could try adjusting the Touch & Hold Delay by going to Settings>Accessibility and changing it to Medium or Long.

I played around with that and it works. Thank you!
