Signed up with Google Voice, installed Groove IP, Remote Wave, purchased Plantronics Backbeats Go Bluetooth earphones, T-mobile hotspot for wifi on the fly. A little tweaking of settings and I am ready to give cell carriers the kiss off!
Sure the tablet isn't actually a pocket device like a cell phone but I always have it with me and the ear buds automatically switch from music to call and back which is great. I can travel a 30 foot radius away from tablet still connected. Surf while in call too!
Google voice does text messaging, voicemail and sends email call alerts as well as transcribes voicemail that gets read back via Remote Wave.
Bye bye 100.00 per month cell bill! Adios carrier contracts! Thank you Android! Thank you developers! Thank you Google! Thank you acer! Thank you Plantronics! Thank you T-mobile!
