TV-out in one way or another?

Have any of the roms restored the tv-out functionality? I'm scared of slapping a new rom in though because I want the ota for 2.2 when it starts to send out...

Also, whatever happened to that whole mini-usb to HDMI thing that was supposedly going to explode on the market for the epic and everything, I can't even find them googling it.

Is TV out besides DNLA never going to be a reality as far as stock rom goes? (I'm sure a custom rom will find a way to include it eventually. )

According to some members on SDX forums the TV-Out hardware may have actually been removed from our version of the Galaxy S. If so, then no ROM can enable this function. Last I read this was unconfirmed though, so there is still hope.

I remember there being a TV out option before the upgrade I believe..I also believed some reviews mentioned it disappearing with the update as well. But samsung also SPECIFICALLY mentioned the Epic 4G when they were originally announcing the miniusb to hdmi if I'm not mistaken..of course, I could be wrong, and it would totally suck. I was hoping to one day be able to use my phone via my TV...

Actually in the thread link in my last post, someone claiming to work for Sprint or Samsung (I forgot which) said the update getting rid of the TV-Out option was because the Galaxy S uses software that's universal for all models, so even if one model did not have the hardware it would have the software option until removed.

Were the demo units different hardware then? There was a video review SHOWING the TV-out capability. I think...I can't fnd the video now but it was out before, unless he's just being a giant troll. ;[ But it showed him unpacking the epic 4g from the box, and plugging it into the TV and everything, and sayng it was "ok" quality because it was like 480

screw tv out.. as i'm typing this.. i'm sitting in front of my TV where my PS3 is streaming Mp3 from the EPIC and while i'm going thru a slideshow of photos from the epic - all wirelessly! I was also streaming season 1 of southland on my epic from my PC (windows 7).. all without any setup. Just fire up the allshare app and away you go!

oh and i was doing all that while browsing a nyt article on the nyt widget..

can you please explain how you see content from your pc on your epic? in detail please...thanks

well i have my windows 7's media player setup to be a media player for my ps3. I guess the Epic and the PS3 both use the same protocol for media streaming. My PC's media server appears identical whether from the ps3 or epic. I can actually properly stream the same video from the PC that when played back from the Epic's SD card, skips terribly (I'm guessing slow SD read speed?)..

So just get your PC setup like this and it should show up on your EPIC.

YouTube - Stream media to PS3 with Windows Media Player 12 & Windows 7

I still want the option to essentially have my phone screen displayed on a larger screen for movies from sd card to browsing net to etc!

Can you use the same setup with an xbox 360?

Try Streaming MP4s from your Epic to the PS3 and see how that works for you. Unwatchable for me and freezes about every 5 seconds.

Try using the "copy" command from the PS3 to copy over the video 1st. I have a crappy ActionTec router supplied by Verizon and it doesnt like to stream either. Copy works great though! (and it takes less time to hit "copy" and copy the vid over than it does to rummage through my box o' cables!)

Luckily, the Evo devs are working on full hdmi out and not just limited hdmi out. I honestly cannot believe that they took out the hardware for it! I mean, how could you have a system dump with all the tv out info, yet, you don't even have hardware that works with it. Well guys, start pressing for that FM radio! THAT hardware I know for sure is in the Epic. :)

Yes allshare works with the 360. Just set up media center extender on your xbox. If you dunno how to do that just google it. Then after doing that launch media center on ur xbox then allshare will see it on your device. Select ur file and it will start playing through ur xbox.
