Hey guys I searched the forums and did find a topic on video out but it didn't answer my question. I'm wondering if we are going to get that ability to connct to a tv via a cord. Whether it be by the 3.5 mm jack cord or a usb to hdmi cord. Also I've heard that by default tv out isn't enabledby default. Can anybody confirm this? Thanks

Ok I did some google searching and as of right now I guess nobody knows for sure lol. I tried to stream it to my xbox using all share but had no luck.also tried doing the same thing with ps3 but no luck either and the file format was mp4. so hopefully we do get tv out in froyo.

Figured out how ti use allshare with my 360. Gonna try to use it again with my dad's ps3 next time I visit him. I do know that ps3 won't play the .3gp file. Gonna try it with the mp4 and it should work.

the DLNA streaming worked for all the DIVX/XVID encoded AVI files that I tried on my PS3 and XBOX. It should work the same with MP4

Also - you are correct on the TV out with 3.5" jack. It has been disabled. In the other Galaxy S phones that have it enabled you will see a "TV out" option under the Settings > Sounds and Display menu but it's not there in our Epic.

It's not "disabled" - it simply doesn't exist on the CDMA version of the phone because of the system on chip. It doesn't exist on Verizon either, though it works on the GSM variants (at&t and t-mobile).

NO TV out on Sprint Epic!!!! - Page 2 - PPCGeeks

The best you can hope for if you dislike the DLNA option is that we have HDMI out via the microUSB and I'm currently seeing mixed reports about this:

Still no tv out? - xda-developers

I, personally, am holding out for Froyo before I bite on the $40 HDMI cable.

Something is better then nothing. But up until a week or 2 before launch the phone HAD tv out from the 3.5mm. It was patched out of the epic before launch. My thinking is there was either one or more of the following: 1) issues with delivery, 2) sprint tv not wanting the feature or 3) samsung wanted people to buy their cable. Obviously there may be other reasons but when people had it before release and it was patched out something must have gone wrong or sombody must hae had an issue. Either way I would like both micro usb to hdmi AND 3.5mm working right.

Actually I believe it had the software option for TV out, but I don't ever remember seeing the hardware working. I'd be happy if I were wrong so if somebody has a link to a video, please post.
