Twitter Connection Error on Droid X2

Ok, I'm brand new to Android so bear with me as this is my first Droid smartphone (just came from Blackberry...)

I've had my Droid X2 for about a week - it's stock, not rooted and I've installed a handful of apps from the Marketplace. All seemed to be going relatively well until mid-day today when an orange caution triangle appear on the top left of my screen where the status notifications appear. When I swiped down it says Twitter connection error.

From My Accounts I added beside my various email accounts both Facebook and Twitter. After adding Facebook, most of my contacts have pictures now and I learned how to "join" contacts 0 so that is working well.

I just stated using Twitter so I'm only following a few people/things and making only a few posts...

Under All Apps, after adding my Facebook and Twitter credentials under My Accounts, I can see posts on both services from the Social Netowrking App that came preloaded on the Droid X2, so I know the credentials are correct. I even went so far as installing Seesmic and added both accounts - like that app best but it has some bugs I found, but that's for another discussion...

So, when I go to Messaging, both my Universal Inbox and Twitter have the orange cautionary triangle. When I go into either one and refresh I get an "Unable to connect to Twitter." message. Now here's the crazy part, I already know the credentials are good because the other apps/services (Social Networking and Seesmic) work and if I send myself a tweet (from under Messaging), it appears in both the universal inbox and the twitter inbox fold, but I still get the orange cautionary triangle. I have removed the account quite a few times and cleared my caches to no avail plus I'e even tried battery pulls w/o an effect. I really have no clue why this suddenly started happening after nearly a week of having the DX2. Is there a Motorola Service perhaps that could be down or not working properly and therefore I'm getting this notification? (I'm thinking like when Blackberry service had outages...)

Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

I feel you pain ktklein! I've had my X2 for a couple of weeks and had the exact same error pop up. Tried the same fixes you mentioned with no luck. I will greatly appreciate a response to your thread!

I've posted this issue on several forums and so far not a single reply anywhere. That sucks. If I hear anything, I'll let you know.

I just now signed up for Twitter, online with my PC .... and selected to have Twitter send the proper app for my DX2....... Twitter msg'd me back saying there was NO appropriate app for me at present.

Who will respond first to this problem ...... Twitter OR Verizon/Moto?

I just got a Droid X and experienced the same issues with the Twitter connection error message. I tried deleting the account and even did a Factory Reset. No luck. When checking the settings for Twitter under Universal Inbox, I noticed that the system would only show the first eight characters of the password, even though I typed in my entire password when I added the account. Others have noted this problem but no one seems to know why it happens or why a Twitter connection error message appears when all seems to be working fine. I tried changing the Twitter password via the web to an eight character password and then re-entering it on the Droid but the error message continued to show up. I finally deleted the Twitter account from Universal Inbox and downloaded the Twitter for Droid app from the Twitter web site. The app works fine; I just don't have the Universal Inbox showing Twitter. Twitter seems to work just fine this way and now there is no annoying orange triangle and error message. Sorry that this doesn't definitively solve the problem. Perhaps there is a techno wizard out there who can solve the mystery.
