two devices, google play store had issues updating apps

I have two devices using versions of android 11, one, a schok volt sv55 using android 11 go, the other is a samsung galaxy tab sm-t290 running full version android 11.

so, I just had an odd experience last night with the google play store.

both devices had issues updating a couple apps, google chrome, and android system webview, with play store telling me it couldn't update the apps.

I had to clear the app cache and data on both google play store and the download manager before it would allow me to update the apps.

is anyone else experiencing this?

That happens to me from time to time. What you did is usually what I try first as well. Other times, it might be an issue related to the Google Play server.

I think it was the server, as two different devices had the exact same issue.

There was also a recent seeming glitch where Google Speech Services seems to get stuck downloading, so maybe it's related to that?
