So, there are two Pixels in our house...and both of us have now had screen cracks appear where we can't figure out how they've happened.

One was a crack that went across the screen without any spidering. Couldn't see any impact marks on the screen or body to indicate the cause.

The other, is a very small fracture along the bezel, starting at the bezel curls about a millimeter to the same bezel.

Glad to have device protection, I just wish we could have made it a month!

Ouch, gross. I'd be so frustrated.

Eh, sure it sucks. Could have been worse though. In both cases, the phones continued to be usable. I haven't even filed a claim for the bezel crack. Waiting for it to bother me. Fortunately I only noticed it in certain light.

To be honest I wouldn't use the "no signs of impact" in discussion because if you use a case, there would be none. If the phone was in a case and the screen cracked it would be because there was more shock than the case could absorb which means the screen cracks. Not necessarily damaging the phone it self.

What do you guys think about that?

I always use a bifold case, usually leather. I never use a screen protector and have never had an issue.

I think you and I are talking about two different things. All I'm saying is that if you drop phone that is in a case and the screen cracks (because the case couldn't absorb all the shock and so the screen does) there may very well be no damage to the phones body.

I'm not saying in this instance this is the case, but telling someone who doesn't know the story, that your phone screen cracked but not dropped. It's possible they did drop it but it was in a case.

Does that make any sense?

So maybe it's a manufacturer defect?

Sounds like pressure cracks... Do you keep the phones in pockets? Or other tight things?

Need more info from you....are both Pixels in cases? Have they been dropped? Where do you keep them...in your front pocket....back pocket?
Do you have kids? Let your kids play on your phone?

Phone displays can crack from stress fractures while in your pocket if you are bending (front pocket) or sitting (back pocket). Then as another poster pointed out, just because a phone is in a case it is not safe. A drop might not save the screen from cracking and would not shown any signs of impact.

I have dropped mine onto carpet from 2 feet and it has no damage at all and it was not in a case at the time.
