Two IMAP accounts, only want to sync one

I have two IMAP accounts that are actually the same inbox. It's set up this way so I can use two different email Identities in the same email account. On my prior phones, I could configure syncing for each one independently, but I cannot seem to do that on the D-X. Is there a setting somewhere I'm just not seeing that will essentially shut off a configured email account? I need to be able to send with its ID and the only way I can do that is to have it configured.

I know I can on-demand sync by simply opening up the email app on that account, but it frequently takes several minutes for the Droid to log in and start to retrieve messages so I want to enable autosyncing - on one login only.
