Two questions re: Advanced Calling Kit Kat OS update & Verizon advanced calling feature activation

Two questions:

1. Has the DROID line update which adds VoLTE gone out generally or only in the soak test?

2. After updating my phone I am trying to activate Advanced Calling 1.0 but the Verizonwireless.com website is telling me that this feature is not available for my phone. This is strange because I did add this feature last Thursday via the Verizonwireless.com website, but when I did it kille my ability to make all phone calls. So I called customer support and had them deactivate it. Once they deactivated it I again had the ability to make calls.

So, on Saturday I tried to re-activate it seeking to troubleshoot it with VZW support to get it working. When I went to the VZW website I found that I couldn't activate it, the message said that "This feature is not available for your phone" (I have a DROID MAXX)

So my second question is - is there anyone else who has received the update so that there phone is VoLTE capable, but has not activated that feature yet? If so, when you go to the VZW website and try to activate Advanced Calling 1.0 do your receive a message telling you that the feature is not available for your phone? Or, are you able to activate it?

I activated the feature on Friday on MyAccount. It did not break my ability to make calls. Still no sign of the system update on my phone. And the Droid Maxx has disappeared from the "Shop Compatible Phones" list on the Verizon Web site. In a chat with Verizon support, they said that the OTA update will be rolled out is phases; no specific time given. I think that having the ability to add the VoLTE feature to the Maxx was unintended; it is not really ready yet. I don't think anyone other than the "soak" users have received the update.

My husband's Maxx has not yet received the update yet.

I still haven't received it, but I do think it has been released. The VZW support page for the Maxx lists this update as live. https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...oftware-Update-V5-10-17-14.pdf&token=Dd6okVwm

The fact that I don't have it yet doesn't mean much, because I didn't receive the small May update until a good three or four days after it was first officially released.

Somebody posted a chat session with a Verizon technician last weekend that said that the feature was pulled from the Droids because it was causing problems, something like that. So, I think what you are seeing is what everybody should be seeing.

I was able to activate HD calling after the update. (soak tester) A couple of days later my husband's Maxx got the update and I went online and activated it for him. Had no problems..

Is the Advanced Calling feature still in soak (version 2)? My Maxx still says "up to date".

No, it has been released or my husband wouldn't have gotten it. He's not in a test group. In the past they have rolled out these updates regionally however and not nationwide all at once. Maybe that is why some have gotten it before others? (We are in Nashville TN)

BTW, the calls between my husband and I now - both with HD calling - sound incredible. Huge difference. Haven't experienced dropped calls yet... hopefully won't.

According to Motorola, it's not officially released yet. Their support page shows 21.11.21 as the current version.

People not in soak tests sometimes get soak updates. I'm not sure why, I've always wondered if it's because somebody joined and typed their imei incorrect by transposing digits or something.

Woke up to an available update this am. I now have the Advanced Calling activated and I WAS NOT part if the soak test.

Got my update on the 28th also. Have the advance calling option already activated on my plan and now it is on my phone. Just need to test it. Phone appears to be working normally. No issues with the update.

Wife got hers this a.m., haven't gotten mine yet. Please tell me that this isn't automatically setting up for the Adv Calling!? I had read you needed to go to VZW site to activate it, and based on what I've read so far, I've no interest in it until it's working all the time for everyone without problems!

I went on the Verizon's site and added it. I didn't get the update till a week later. So I am not sure if it is automatic or not. I do know you cannot use it till you activate it for your device on your plan.

It didn't automatically set mine up as far as having to add it to my features on my account, but it did add the menus to the phone. My guess is that the update will give you the ability to switch on HD voice but if you haven't added the feature to your account it might tell you that when you try and turn it on within the menus. You can try this when you get your update and let us all know.
