Two Text Messaging Programs???

When I get a text or mms message, I get two notifications in the notification bar.

One notification is the "White Messages Icon" the 2nd is the "Green Text Icon with the smiley face." I do not have any 2nd or 3rd party text applications installed on my phone from the Play Store.

When I go into settings>applications>all: I don't see the "Green Text Icon App" and can't disable the "White Messages Icon App..."

Am I hallucinating???

Why would I be getting notifications from both programs, yet only one of them is in "All Applications" under settings?

Ideally I would like to disable or remove the "White Messages Icon App" and keep the "Green Smiley Text Icon App."

Any help would be appreciated....

If you look at your applications, do you happen to have chompSMS installed? I do and I have the green smiley. You just have to disable notifications on the default Messages application to get the normal notifications to stop.

When you select the notifications in the dropdown, which applications does it take you to? You should be able to figure out which two apps are giving notifications by clicking each notification and seeing where you end up. If you disable notifications in the one you do NOT want to use, that should set you right.

Google voice user?

You have to go into the stock messages
Settingd and uncheck notifications. That will allows you to bust receive messages from the second message app.

Thanks everybody for jarring my memory. I did in fact have a secondary message program installed (SMS Popup). I am using Nova Launcher and had hidden it from view in my app drawer to come back to it later to do the configurations....I forgot about it and it was giving me their notification as well as stock. Got it fixed now and is working smooooth!

Have a great one...
