Two things I can't seem to get to work/figure out...

I have two things that have me stumped...well, I have way more than that but these 2 I can't figure out...I think the other stuff I'm looking at will just take some time (mainly the power of SNote and SPen).

1) For the life of me I can NOT get this phone to register/recognize my irises. I've tried and tried and it just fails every time. I've tried without glasses, I've tried with glasses, I've tried in a well lit room, I've tried in a not-well-lit room. I do not know why I can't seem to get it to acknowledge (register) my irises.

2) I can't get the smaller multiple windows to work when trying to use the swipe from the corner. Again I've tried many different apps, etc. I know how to get a split screen using the recently used button on the bottom for apps that support it, but tap and pull diagonal from the corner just doesn't work. Is there some kind of "sweet spot" I apparently can't find?

Thank you in advance for any help or insight you can provide. I've spent a lot of time reading the threads here and they have been immensely helpful.

For #1 , do you have a screen protector on your phone? If so, does it cover the iris scanner which is to the left of the earpiece? If no to both, have you made sure the iris scanner is clean? If none of those suggestions work, try holding the phone higher than you think it needs to be- that's what I finally had to do and it works flawlessly.

No clue about your number 2 question since I don't use multi window.

#2 conundrum...Is your one-handed gesture setting set properly? If so, the area that works for me is straight off either corner, right where the two sides meet.

This drove me NUTS too! Especially since about one of every 50 tries worked.I finally googled it a couple of weeks ago and found a Samsung page on tips for the Note 3 or 4 (I've had every Note since the 3 & two Note tablets did so never figured this out, lol).

Anyhow...

1. Select recent apps

2. Long press whichever app you want to use in floating window (doesn't seem to matter where on the app you press)
- a blue box will pop up

3. Drag from wherever you're long pressing to the blue box. You'll see the box get a bit bigger. Then let go.
- that app will open in a small, floating window you can drag around

4. If you minimize the app, you'll have a floating circle of that app.
- I posted in the Things You Discovered topic that you can open multiple apps like this, and the floating circle becomes a floating folder.

I did see that post...thank you. This is "another" way to do the floating thing...but supposedly you can also do the corner to corner tap and drag and like you, I get it right about once every 50 times. This method does seem much easier and a lot more reliable. Thank you so much.

IPhoneTHS: The one handed thing isn't what I was looking for...I did play with it and what Sandra_17 posted is definitely what I was after.

Basically I gather the corner to corner finger drag simply isn't functioning properly since it seems to be unreliable (working once every 50 times).

srvctec: I will continue to play with it to see if I can get it figured out. Thank you.

Thank you. That's my Rottie, Rex(ter). Sweet as sugar, 110 lb Mamma's boy. I lost him last Dec (feels like a week ago :'( ) to osteosarcoma at only seven.

(Ugh, looking at the mess of icons I'm using, lol. Had one icon pack I really liked, but it was missing a few, so I started cherry picking them from different packs. It shows, lol. Need to fix that asap - it's making me twitch!)

Also, that corner method...it was that sporadic for me on all my Notes. So glad this one exists. There are so many uses for it!

I'm sorry to hear your having such a hard time with this feature. I use this almost daily without any issues. I have two suggestions: 1st, In settings go to advanced features then select multi window. Down towards the bottom of page look for setting called "pop up view" make sure that's selection is on. That's the setting for your pop-up windows.
My other suggestion is, when attempting to resize the app to a pop up view, place your finger at the top edge & slide your finger downward & inward (like a diagonal slant.) Sometimes if your finger isn't far enough to the edge it will slide down the notification shade-jyst flip it back up & try again. If the setting is on & your device is working properly, it's just finding the sweet spot. Hope this helps you to get the feature working, it's a very useful one!

Thank you...i was reading an article on settings you must turn on with the Note 8 and the window thing came up. I went in and my settings were what they needed to be but I played with them a little, put them back then voila, the swipe down diagonal from corner seems to be working. It IS a little finicky...in that you really do need to be at the very very edge of the screen or as you stated, you get the notification shade instead, which is what was happening to me. Thank you. I hope I continue to be able to engage it reliably...it IS a very nice feature.
