Lemme just say this about that ... There's a reason why I said on the podcast last night that I believe if you want a GSM Galaxy Nexus in the United States, you're going to have to import for a little while.

Gawd, I hope I'm wrong.

Please elaborate on said reason.

Yes please elaborate on this! Also, I've had this feeling for quite a while. It's not something that I wanted to hear but I kinda knew this was going to be the case. That's why I'm just going to pick up the S2 today and if for some awesome reason Best Buy gets the Galaxy Nexus unlocked, I'll return the S2 and pick that up.

Yeahhh...guess it's true about that Verizon exclusive.

Heh heh, we're finally getting ours :)

But at the same time, Google really should have pushed this to all carriers, on the same day. Apple could do it, why couldn't Google? Oh yeah...because Google has no balls.

Yea I am happy that Verizon is getting this even though I do not use their service. Samsung and Google have to be brain damaged to not try to have every carrier get this for the holiday sales season. This time of the year is when 99.9% of retailers make the biggest chunk of their year to date sales.

Don't care about Verizon. There are two Galaxy Nexus devices. HSPA+ (at&t, T-Mobile, and rest of the world ) and one CDMA/LTE ( Verizon ).

Ironically I have yet to see the CDMA/LTE version go through the FCC unlike the GSM HSPA+ version which has here ---> https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=150400&fcc_id=%27A3LGTI9250

Unless the overseas models are supporting extra unsued frequencies in the hardware, then there will be more than two.

ATT uses 850/1900

Tmo uses 1700/2100

Unless we are talking EDGE quality speeds.

Nope FCC does not test 900 (GSM/WCDMA) or 1800 (GSM) bands since those are not used in US but it is a world phone. Nor do they test the uplink for AWS I believe.

Has it been confirmed for carriers other than Verizon?

I'm on T-Mobile.

Any word of a release date?

Re: Has it been confirmed for carriers other than Verizon?

Only Verizon has announced it officially in the US, but you can bet there will be a gsm version available here at some point.

It's been confirmed on a whole bunch of other carriers.

However, what you meant was "Has it been confirmed for US carriers other than Verizon?

The answer to which is no. If you are on T-Mobile you could always import the GSM version from the UK.

It would cost about $680.

That's won't work. T-Mobile uses special 3G/4G bands that are not used in Europe.

It's a world phone with every conceivable band. I imagine Best Buy Mobile or maybe Amazon Wireless will carry an on contract HSPA+ device for us GSM folks. Or at least we can hope.
