I require a strong phone case because of work. I am wondering if anyone here has used both cases and which one they prefer. I'm also wondering about protection differences

Just as a disclaimer, I personally have used neither, however after talking to those who have, I would recommend the otterbox - if your main concern is protection. Thing is that it makes your already relatively large phone a brick. Now for me, and this may or may not be the same for you, I am constantly taking my phone case and back cover on & off because I am always swapping the battery, so something like the otterbox defender case is not as practical for me because it would take a bit more effort than I would enjoy just to swap batteries. The UAG is a bit easier to take off (as I am told) but is probably not going to offer the same protection that the otterbox is.

Uag guaranteed to work with the fos.. Otterbox I seen more then fee say it does not..

UAG provides moderate protection but is very slim and adds grip. The OtterBox is what I would use if I worked construction. Makes the phone almost indestructible.

I have both and the Defender is just way to huge. Plus the plastic screen protector of the Defender just plain sucks
(this is why I removed it).
Here's a couple of pictures showing the size comparison of the two cases.

I prefer the otterbox defender... Yes it is too big but it has protected my phone very good. I dropped my phone in one occasion on cement and landed on the side of the screen. Nothing happens to either the case or the phone and that's why the otterbox is bulky, because it protect your phone from been drop from a high elevation to water in raining days. It is in my opinion the perfect case.

I had an UAG on my Note 3 for a couple of years. Loved it. Not quite the protection of the OB but still great and better than any other case. Easier to get on and off and slip in pocket than OB.

Now I went with an off brand that provides only moderate protection. I went this way because the main priority was to have the ability to carry one CC and my Driver lic. in the phone case and not have to sit on an unnecessary wallet. Although that does not really add much at all to the thickness of the case, none of the best name cases like OB or UAG have adopted the feature yet.

I have the UAG case. I wanted something that added some protection but not a lot of heft to the phone. The UAG case was the perfect combination of the two for me.
