uckk2 gingerbread mixed emotions

Flashed the leaked stock gingerbread onto my captivate last night. Everything's pretty much improved, Swype works better, os looks neat, etc... But my battery life seems to have suffered. Went 4 hours before I needed to charge this morning. Maybe It's because I didn't do a factory wipe/reset? Any good custom roms out that perform better? Thinking about Illuminance, but I've never messed with custom roms, so I don't know anything about kernals, modems, and whatknots. Anyways, what do y'all think?

It can take a couple cycles after flashing a ROM for the battery to even out. Most of the newer ones have pretty good battery life. I am running Apex now and find the battery life to be pretty good.
