Ugh...Cordy

So I love my Xoom, but this is my BIGGEST pet peeve about it: Cordy (and other factory installed applications). First off...I do not wish to root my Xoom. So pretty much I'm here complaining about the app Cordy. I never play the game and can't uninstall it. But the game updates seriously like twice a week with updates that are usually between 25 and 30 mbs. It never fails that I notice it updating while at work...which there is no wifi at my job so it's over the Verizon data... basically eating up my monthly data allocation. I unchecked the automatic updates but it always is rechecked when I go back in the market. So I don't really want any suggestions...I just want others to complain with me. Haha. Carry on with your day!

Mine does not show in my market apps. In system apps what version is on your Xoom? I have 1.21 and the market is 1.32. I never updated it and was never asked to.

My market version is 1.0.17. Yeah I'm friggin sick of Cordy updating multiple times a week!

Is it possible to disable the auto update for this app in the market app ?

Go to the Market and My Apps and select Cordy and turn auto updating off.

I have all mine off because if I'm at work and I'm only on 3G... I dont want to burn through it.

If that's the same concern for you, just turn of mobile data when at work or connect via wifi. That's another thing I did.

I have disabled auto-updates on ALL apps, but when I first tried it on Cordy, it would not retain my setting. I would clear it, move away from Cordy and when I came back, the box "Allow automatic updating" was checked again. I finally forced it to clear the box by clearing it in the middle of it performing the update - it was ridiculous trying to get it to persist, but I was more persistent I guess, and hit the timing just right. YMMV.

Exactly...that's why in the original posting I said that unchecking auto updates didn't work...it keeps coming back.

Yep, as I previously stated, when I turn off auto updating, an hour later it's back on and trying to download again. There is no wifi at work (as I also previously stated), and I use my Xoom all the time so turning off data isn't an option.

I have unchecked it since reading this and it never came back ... will check again after a couple of hours and see if it comes back on.

Ok so I've figured out when it does the rechecking. At home, I have my wifi network going...when I notice it starting to update, I uncheck it. It remains unchecked until my Xoom reconnects to 3G when I leave home. So it pretty much seems the check remains unchecked until the network switches to wifi to 3g (or vice versa). Other strange thing...it seems to only do that with Cordy...not some of the other games that came preinstalled.

I have a question. My xoom has Cordy on it, and when I go to search for it in the Marketplace, it shows there and there is an option to update it. I want to remove it, but can't. If an App is installed from the marketplace, you can remove it.

My question, is, if I install the update from the marketplace, will it then allow to me to remove the program?

Right now, Cordy isn't autoupdating on my xoom, and I don't want to update it on the Xoom, and then NOT be able to remove AND have the problem of it always auto-updating.
