UK now taking pre-orders

Over a month till it is available though. If it was in the shops the same time as the US I may have taken a punt but by early November the new Pixel and iPhone notch edition will be available too.

£800 too in the UK!

800 get real LG. with your bootloop issues and position in the marketplace this needs to be 600.

It's really not about marketplace value. If the phone didn't come with a professional grade Quad DAC then I'm sure 600 would be fair starting price. Honestly, if you were to break all the hardware components & the features...this would be worth much more. The 800 is a subsidized price point.

The boot loop issues are a thing of the past just like the exploding batteries from Samsung.

Lol at £800 for a phone that will probably not get Oreo until spring.

Spring is actually not bad at all. Most manufacturers (LG & Samsung) are notorious for taking six months or more due to how extensively they insist upon customising stock Android. They would also have to wait out to have all the initial roll out bugs to be ironed out before starting on anything.

Every year they always have the next generation Android OS. It's nothing new & most of the upgrades are very subtle. If you really want Oreo, the next wave of flagships will be carrying it, but then again you will have to wait again for the next Android OS after Oreo. If software is big item for you, then I would stick to the Google branded phones. You can even sign up for beta testing to expedite the process & help improve some of the buggy blackbox testing lol
