Ultimate Droid at DF?

psst. Hey Roy -

Grab the latest UD and change the name of the zip file to Ultimate Roy and host it here. I double dog dare ya lol

I believe that's the third forum he's been removed from now for various shady practices...

It's the second. In my mind it would have ended if he'd just come out and stated the truth rather than lie. I would have been happy and left well enough alone. But to try and cover it up after its been proven lets me know he hasn't learned anything and isn't to be trusted

True and I thought about this. It wouldn't surprise me if BlackDroid wasn't a high school aged kid, which would account for some of the behavior.

So let me see if I understand all of this. CM and Koush take the ROM that Google built and changed it some and released it calling it their own. Did they credit Goggle? So Blackdroid comes along and take the ROM that Goggle built but CM and Koush changed, modifies it and releases it and calls it his own. Wow, so nobody is any better than the other. I have heard the term "stole" from the CM camp. Well look everyone has stolen code. In my former profession, (retired police officer of over 25 years), if one is a thief then they both are. Anyone who steals and uses code from somebody else and then gets upset when someone else does the same thing to them. Unbelievable. Something tells me that this is a lot more than just ownership of code. Because if you compare Goggles code with CM and Kosh's ROM I bet there are a lot of similarities. I think it's about too many people sitting behind too many computers in their own little world feeling like they are really important. In the world of phones CM and Kosh are forward thinkers and innovators. But the way this whole situation was handled makes me believe they think they invented the entire ROM. Well that credit goes to Google after all. To all developers, thank you for improving our phones, but please don't take yourselves so seriously. Just my humble opinion. Not that anybody asked....

Actually. Google releases their code Android Open Source Project. Its free for anyone to use.
Cyanogen along with others take the code and edit it making it do things that it normally would not on a released rom. Keep in mind that the code remains free. Cyanogen always has explained that his roms are built from AOSP code. He does credit google.

However although his code is free for anyone to use, (just as AOSP code is) it is only common courtesy to tell the end user that the code is AOSP code that has been modified by Cyanogen. He could have said, "I took the AOSP that Cyanogen modded and modded it some more". This gentleman did the oposite. He stated that he had done the work himself, taking credit for another mans work.

IE. The soil all around us is free. Anyone can grow food from it. However if you plant an orange tree and say "anyone can take from it, I grew it using free soil".
Would it not be stealing (from your hard work) and wrong in a way if I told others I grew the oranges and that they can enjoy my work?

Just wanted to thank everyone for stating their opinions in such a proffesional manner. You guys rock. ;)

He will probably make a new name and rerelease an updated one but give credit to cyanogen. Or maybe he will make the same mistake again haha. 3Rd times a charm, right? Haha

if anybody has a red theme running on their cyanogen rom or dare i say ultimate droid rom (would be even funnier) then i have a live wallpaper for you haha... enjoy

Sorry for the long ass quote. But this is something everyone needs to be clear about.

Roy is right on the money, but there's something else - Cyanogen also checks in his fixes into the AOSP source tree. He didn't just take AOSP code, he is one of the original contributors.

So I had finally decided to swap over to UD10 after checking it out and then the thread gets locked and I can't find a download link! Does anyone know where I could get the rom?

i only see cyanogen and koush credited 1 time in all of there credits haha way to go Ultimate Droid, i guess he will never learn

Ive left it alone either he will or wont but people now know the truth and know what to expect
