I have an unlocked 128 GB Ultra on order - FedEx has the label and it should arrive Wed. However, the Samsung silicone case, among other items, has not indicated that it shipped. I won't use a phone that pricey without a case and so I ordered an inexpensive case from Amazon. Minimal in design, it arrived today. It is HUGE. i can just about fit my Note 10+ inside WITH ITS CASE ON. it may be the case design itself, but if it really is that large and thick, it may be too much. Here is the case I ordered:

It may be that a slim case may save the day. I am a klutz, so it needs some protection, but any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Not clear, please, as I have a black phone ordered and black blends in to a lot. Something with some color would be preferred. Thanks in advance for your help.

It’s about 5mm taller than the Note 10+, and half a millimeter skinnier.

It is also thicker (8.8 mm vs 7.9 mm). I have the specs in a spreadsheet. I also have a Note 10+ right here in front of me. And I have a case that feels very thick and large. I can only tell you that in holding both of them, holding the case for the S20 feels very different from holding the Note 10+, meaning it feels much larger and thicker. I wasn't expecting this and it may just be the case. So, as I asked before, I am looking for a recommendation for a slim style case. That may be all it needs.

Welcome to... Reality. It's a big phone.

If you say your a klutz, I'd keep that case... Seems like it has enough raise-ivity to be useful for the klumsy and looks like it makes the camera bump flush? I won't be surprised if many of the cracks we read about will be cracks at the camera bump taking impact before the rest of the phone.

If you want to go with a thinner feel... Maybe spigen neo hybrid?? Been the one and only case I've used on my Note 8 for 2+ years. Minimum protection with a slight raise-ivity over the phone glass to make it slam boy certified and the case tapers to the side making the side feel thinner to hold. I guess spigen will try to keep with the same design points on the new phones.

Tech 21 its slim and the best protection your phone can get. Dropped my pixel 2 xl off a 9 ft roof on to cement and there wasn't a scratch on it. Im hard on my phones and i wont buy any other case after that . It will protect up to 10ft or 12ft drop depending on the case. Its not cheap but worth it

Thanks! I will look.

I have heard them mentioned for other phones before but never looked at them. I will. Appreciate the suggestion!

That case looks to be on the bulkier side. Not quite otterbox defender, but just a step below. I have a thin clear ESR case and it doesn't seem much bigger than my note 10+. I'll post a side by side of my spigen neo hybrid for the note 10+ and the ESR for the ultra.

Here's a couple side by sides. These cases offer close to the same protection. I couldn't even force the note 10 case inside the ultra one.

At the bottom of that Amazon page is shows a side view and looks like they provide some raise-ivity around the camera.

It would be more pleasing to the eye if the back could be flush with the camera bump or even flush higher to recess the camera cover and provide protection. But the Ultra bump is so offensive it would just make the phone so bulky so even though it will not lay flat and probably rock a bit, this is the cleaner and slimmer solution. Always did like the clean herringbone pattern too... kinda mix between herringbone and Mickey Thompson drag radial pattern.

Customer images in review section also seems to show this as well.

Does this one protect the camera module?

The Note 10+ is wider, but since the Ultra is thicker it's a toss up

Yes, it is wider by 1.2 mm, about a 20th of an inch. Not much at all. But it is the thickness of the case that seems to give it the different, bulkier feeling. That is why I am looking for recommendations for a slim case. As I said in the original post, it may be the case itself that causes it to feel very thick in comparison with the Note 10+. I use a thinner case on my Note 10+, something not sold for the S20 series (a Samsung Alcantara case that feels great and is very minimal.) The Samsung Silicone case seems to be the closest, is what is on order and it seems to be slim. But I am not sure when that will arrive. I will likely use what I have until it arrives unless someone highlights another winner.

I don't think it will be too bad once you actually get the device.

Spigen neo hybrid is my vote for a thin case that offers great protection. I've had a few drops with various phones and they have all survived in the neo hybrid.

Why the neo hybrid rather than the liquid air? I was looking at both of them and ended up ordering the liquid air one.

I go with neo hybrid for the extra protection. I'm a mechanic, live on 6 acres, building a pole barn and have been known to do scetchy things while drinking. My phone is in danger frequently.
