UMS says connected on phone not 360

I just bought Pm670 started with 2.2.2, acquired an .mp4 format movie compatible with the Xbox 360 as I've tested with a few phones before, HTC Evo 4g and LG Marquee. When I plug the optimus into the 360 via USB of course I get the UMS support asking me if I want to connect, I press the button to turn on the service and the phone says its connected showing no sign of a problem however nothing shows up on the 360. I have checked this with music, videos, and pictures, the portable device spot never becomes clickable. I have been able to tether just fine with pdanet and a laptop so I am up to date on the 360 and have the optional media update required for aac playback. Does this have something to do with the SD card that comes with the phone?
I have now rooted the phone and installed CM 7.2 ICS 2.3.7, this is what I ultimately ended up having to do with the Evo to get its UMS to work with the same 360 but the Marquee worked right out of the box.
And I have used Twonky and system data cable apps however I do not currently have a wireless network.
Hope I was thorough enough, thanks in advance.

I have never been able to get my Optimus to use it's SD storage for my 360 for playing media or anything else. I think it's just one of those things that just "doesn't work."

The system used is identical to platforms that do work, which is where my frustration comes in.
Thanks for the reply and if anyone has a solution other than the purchase of an SD card reader I would more than appreciate it.
I have tried this with several optimus phones including sprints version all with USB debugging on and off.
Thanks in advance.
