I can't get my EVO to boot into recovery mode... I am currently running Baked Snack 1.75 and I was using ROM manager to flash, backup and swap between ROM's but now for one reason or another I can't get into recovery.... When in ROM manager I click back up ROM it goes through the motions and I hit okay and then I get the white screen with black letters "htc EVO 4G" and it just stays there... I have to eventually do a battery pull...

Even if I power the phone off and then hold volume down and power at the same time and move it down and go into recovery.... Same thing.. I just get stuck on that same screen....

Any suggestions how I can just get into recovery now? The only thing that has changed since the last time I backed up and swapped ROM's (couple of days ago) was today I downloaded and updated to the 1.75 Baked Snack and downloaded the latest version of ROM manager (Paid version) So I have no clue if it's ROM manager or 1.75 that is causing the problem or a combination of the two OR just something totally wrong....

I mean as of right now I can't flash any thing.. I can't get that far... HELP!!!!

Try going into ROM manager and fixing permissions. If that didnt work try flashing a different version of clockwork through rom manager.

I have flashed the latest version of Clockwork through ROM manager.. Done that 4 or 5 different times... Just not working (or helping I guess)

and what do you mean by fixing permissions? ROM manager has super user access/permission.... I just can't get it to do ANY THING... period... how do you just wipe and start over (if needed? since so far I have tried every thing)

I'm having the same issue. I had Clockwork recovery flashed when I rooted with (the oh so hated) Unrevoked 3.21. I went into ROM manager and it didn't recognize Clockwork that I had flashed so I flashed it again in ROM Manager so it would recognize. Now I can't get into recovery.

Another unrevoked horror story.

As in go into rom manager, and hit fix permissions under utilities.

Then flash an OLDER version of clockwork, not the latest.

I actually did the fix permissions thing earlier this afternoon (This problem has been with me all day now)

and I rooted the long and hard way.... I can honestly say I have had ZERO problems until last night when I updated to Baked Snack 1.75 vs 1.7 and then this morning I got the little icon asking me to update ROM manager... Today I tried to back up my ROM and switch to another one I have and the fun started

YOU ARE THE MAN!!!

Thank You... Flashing an "OLDER" version of Clockwork Recovery did the trick... went right into recovery instantly after I downgraded one level....

So frustrating spending 1/2 my afternoon trying to figure it out...

Much Thanks...

Work with it tomorrow now.... My battery is at 5% remaining so not much I can do now..

Nope, not another horror story. This worked for me as well. Just downgraded Clockwork and I can now get back into recovery.

*pats self on the back* lol

You should be able to flash the newest version and it should work now too.

Welcome man.

Always great to learn a new "Trick" I was trying every thing on my own to figure it the heck out.. I saw that "Update Permissions" link and tried that earlier today then when you mentioned it I was looking in the menu - settings in ROM manager looking for some thing in there that made sense...

I figured it had to be SOMETHING with ROM manager or the latest version of Baked Snack since that was all I had done lately...

An way... Again thank you.. thank you... thank you....

Oh and I am flashing away again... I almost forgot I had a spare battery on the charger so I went from 5% to 100% in two seconds....

I don't know what problems people have with Unrevoked...I used version 3.2 (before they pulled it) on my EVO and I've had zero problems. I flashed the new OTA using Clockwork and things went great.

Funny thing, ROM Manager doesn't recognize that I have Clockwork installed...it wants me to install it. Frankly this makes me not trust it...I wonder if your problems are due to ROM Manager and not Unrevoked? (lol)

Just wait till your 4g breaks, you want a new splash or boot screen, and you have no idea what adb is.

I've not heard of Unrevoked breaking a 4G radio...tho I *have* heard of custom ROMs doing that.

I was implying that unrevoked users have no adb knowledge in order to fix broken 4G or do any of those things.

The "LONG" way was a mild pain in the @$$ but you do learn a lot.... It took me a good 2 hours between downloading the files, following along with the sticky and watching the two part you tube video....

I would rather do it the long way than the one click way... I agree with you igotsanevo4g..... It gives you some mild extra knowledge of what exactly your doing and how it is done... Will I ever use that again? No clue but I at least know how to do it now.... I could probably root another EVO (The long way) in half the time....
