Unable to communicate with AT&T

The last few times I've tried to go to software update it always says Unable to communicate with AT&T. Any reasons why this would suddenly start happening?
 
This problem occurred when my son attempted to update his phone. We called AT&T and were passed along to level 2 or level 3 support. AT&T was showing that the brand new sim card was saying the his phone was a Motorolla instead of a Samsung Captivate and that was what the problem stemmed from.

AT&T changed something on their end and then we were able to update my son's phone without any problem.

Not rooted. And I'll try the sideload option and then contact AT&T if needed. Appreciate the responses.

Oh. I updated a few weeks ago when they had the OTA update. I guess at this point has anything else been updated (Froyo?) that I would need a software update for?

Froyo is out but it isn't official yet so at this point it's do at your own risk. Hope it's out soon for people that don't like to hack.
 
I'm seeing this as well. Not rooted, received the OTA update a few weeks ago. I think its something on their end. No matter. Once CM for 2.2 comes out (with Voodoo), I'll be ditching the AT&T provided kit anyway.
