Unable to Data Roam Epic 4G Touch

I tried all of these tricks and couldn't get it to work which is why I was very frustrated. At one point I had 5 bars of roam strength, but still couldn't get any data even after shutting off roaming restarting the phone turning on data roam first, etc.

As stated above, from what I have read in the XDA forums the radio in the phone cannot get data across the PCS band on which some roam towers operate. If this information is wrong or someone knows better please let me know as I'll just tell Sprint I won't be returning it, I would be quite pleased not to.

Just a quick follow-up on my previous post. I checked the advice from the Sprint forum on my phone and it appears to work ... I was able to access data while roaming where I never could before. If you already have "voice" and "data" turned on you should un-check them and then check "data" first. It will ask if you really want to allow data roaming and then also turn on "voice" for you. Then the first time you access data you'll get another pop-up to make sure it's OK (and at that point you can tell it not to ask anymore).

R2D2631 - Does Roam Control work with the Epic 4G Touch? I was going to download but it didn't appear to work with this phone. Also, with Roam Control, does it "always" roam or can one easily switch? Thanks

i dont know if roam control is helping.. but i am rooted on starburst using roam control and also changing to a Verizon prl...i really dont need to roam that much...i have a few weak to dead spots when commuting on train and this is definitely helping.

I had data roaming the first day I had this phone, because I traveled into roaming areas a lot that day and it worked - three days later I applied the data speed increase hack and today I was back out in those areas (about 2 weeks later) and I could not data roam. Wondering if the two are connected.......?
