Ok, I may have found a solution to the problem. This is [NOT] an official fix (yet?), and far as I know, this is what worked for my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 running the recently pushed Android Oreo by Sprint. Having mentioned that I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 8, this could help those of you who are experiencing issues with your Samsung devices, assuming you're running Nougat or Oreo, using Touchwiz or other app launchers such as Apex or Nova.
1. If you are using a different launcher, find your way back to Touchwiz, which is your Samsung devices default launcher. You have never installed another launcher on your device, you are ready for the next step.
2. Go to your app drawer and click the three dots on the right upper corner of your screen.
3. Click the menu item that says "home screen settings".
4. Once you're in the home screen settings, click "App Button"
5. Select "Hide app buttons".
I'm not sure of the home screen settings can be found in the actual system settings button. After spending a couple of hours looking for a solution, I don't remember seeing a link to the home screen settings. I provided screenshots with notes in them. I hope this post helps somebody.
I'm assuming that only Samsung users are experiencing this issue, updating their themes via the Samsung theme store.
