Hi,
I have HTC One Developer edition (unlocked) and I use AT&T. Last night I received update from HTC to upgrade my Android 4.3 to 4.4 (KitKat). My phone was initially encrypted.
After upgrade, my phone did not boot to home screen. I ended up doing Hard Restore. It turned back on and it had Android 4.4 and everything looked fine. But the problem is that I can't encrypt my phone. I tried multiple times without success. It just restarts and nothing happens. One time, it went through encryption process, but then it didn't turn on again. So I had to hard reset again.
I need to encrypt my phone so that I can connect to my work Exchange server. Without encryption I can't connect to that server and my phone is useless.
Any help will be appreciated. I need to either be able to encrypt my phone, or roll back to 4.3.

Thanks

Same problem here. Here is a G+ post explaining what I was confronted with (includes a link to a video) https://plus.google.com/101252251132839111925/posts/ANsLCR1oGat
:(
I contacted HTC and they said they have not heard of this problem since they just released the KitKat. They guy did not have a clue. So he escalated the ticket to another level of technical support. I'm waiting for them to get back to me.

Hey are you the poster from usoftech.com in this post Android- Unable to Encrypt HTC One with KitKat: [ HTC One ]. I would have posted my reply there but you seem to have locked the forum to registration (cannot register as a new user) :-(
That was posted automatically linked from this forum. I did not post there.

Just another addition to the list. Updated my HTC One Dev Ed to 4.4 OTA today and it booted into a black screen. Went into the booatloader and had to reset to defaults and then it booted but it wont Encrypt so obviously encryption is the issue:( I am screwed as my company forces encryption to get company mail. I dont want to go back to an old rom and do everything over but this does not look too good. Anyone get anywhere with HTC yet?

Hi,

Same problem,
Got teh 4.4 to my unlocked HTC One and after the upgrade, my phone did not boot to home screen. I ended up doing Hard Reset as no other option worked.
Then it turned back on and it had Android 4.4 and everything looked fine. However encryption does not work here as well for my Exchange.
I create teh email account > set the pin code > it asks for the option to encrypt > i approve > phone turns off and back on and thats it > then it asks again to do an encryption > then if i do it again it goes through the same process with no success.

My phone as well is useless without my exchange server working.

I have exactly same problem. Could not encrypt phone. Tried many times and it worked once.
However, when I rebooted the phone after encryption, the phone did not restart. I had to do hard reset.

Went back to 4.3 and encrypted again for my office emails.

Waiting for this to get resolved.....

I have downloaded the latest update 4.06.1540.03 on my Encrypted 4.3 and the upgrade was completed without any problem.
I confirm that this update resolved the issue.
