I am having problem with both Odin and Heimdall. Odin is not connecting to my phone when I put it into download mode. Updating the samsung usb driver did not help. Heimdall just kept on and on cycling with the driver installation popup. Ideas anyone?
The phone is running okay with "stock" GB unrooted.

Odin and Heimdall use drivers that aren't compatible with each other.

Also check your cable or try a different.

I tried 3 different cables and different usb ports. I ran Sansung Kies mini and also Samsung usb driver before running Odin. Heimdall has a popup for driver installation and indicated driver was installed.

Still no solution yet.

Let me give more details on my problem with my Infuse and see anyone can help. My Infuse is locked into this state that I cannot flash with Odin or Heimdall.
Current condition:
1) Android 2.3.6 (leaked), not from AT&T
2) not rooted
3) In running Heimdall, I can get the green indicator that the phone is connected once I put it in download mode. From that point on, it just goes into a loop of saying driver not there and reinstalling driver and driver successfully installed.
4) In running Odin, I can see driver was being successfully installed. When I connect the Infuse with download mode, id:com never light up.
How I got there:
1) See my 6/20/2012 posts there: http://forums.androidcentral.com/in...71860-rom-2-3-6-aeon-1-3-1-a.html#post1883904
2) After that I tried to unroot and put in cwm by Heimdall (most likely) or Odin
3) Flash was incomplete and the phone got into the "exclamation computer icon" condition
4) It was fixed by the method given : Download One-Click Unbrick for Samsung Phones. Phone Exclamation Point Computer Unbrick Fix| Popular Social Trends with TraeMcNeely.com
which brought me to the current condition.

Although step 4) above worked, it was not stated explicitly for Infuse (Captivate, Galaxy SII). Would that put some identifier in phone as not a Infuse and cause all the driver issues for Heimdall and Odin? Should I try one-click unbrick again? Are there any other method besides Heimdall and Odin to install software to Android phones?

Go to your control panel/programs and uninstall all samsung drivers.
Unplug phone.
Reboot computer.
Install drivers for hemidall using zadig.exe which is in the hemidall folder.
Then run hemidall.

Unable to cleanup and install drivers in the original computer. Started out with another flesh PC not touched by any Samsung phones before. There were a lot of Samsung drivers got installed simply by connecting the Infuse to the flesh PC and finally the Heimdall drivers by zadig.exe. The Heimdall flash worked afterwards.
